I swear Donovan's a pro at getting into trouble...*rolls eyes* Ah well. Today I need to get some cleaning done, and some casting cleanup, so I can paint some more pieces soon. Did some sketching yesterday, which was notably crappy. Didn't feel too good overall, and I wonder if perhaps the reason I was so lethargic the day before is that I'm catching a cold, or sinus infection. I'm congested, tired and feel like crap....but beyond that, I'm pretty ok. Donovan and Aurora are congested too...so I'm guessing it's a cold.

As of tomorrow I'll have been sculpting for one year, officially. I've worked pretty hard at improving, and am pretty pleased with my progress. I hope I improve as much in the following year as I did in this one past. I know I'll be focusing on improving the anatomy of my pieces, making them more physically accurate. I'm wanting cleaner detailing, and better painting as well.

Well, I'm gonna finish eating my cookies for breakfast, then try to get the day started. :)

Today, went through some old junk, and made a run to goodwill. Also cleaned some, and played rollercoaster tycoon, one of my favorite games. The downstairs looks alot nicer since we finished up building the bookshelf last night. I now have room to put stuff! yay! Had yet another kid offer to mow our grass...we get asked that about twice a week. We actually just mowed it, but here lately alot of people are hurting for cash...and I've had several adults, and kids ask. And usually when they ask...they're looking at my flowerbed, which sadly more resembles a weedbed. I'm a horrible gardener. I'm just happy the grass grows...and I think that's because the lawn is Chris's job.

In the next week or so I'd like to get my bike fixed...I havent ridden in forever, as my bike is old, and needs some attention to the gearshift and crankshaft. I'd also like to get standard handlebars...and perhaps convert it to a hybrid. I got it secondhand, but I love it and refuse to buy another. Chris found a really good bike mechanic and I'm hoping he can help.

Gave Sara Chris's old bike, which he'd repaired. Sara really seemed to like it, and it's her favorite color ironically enough. Her old bike was in bad shape, and this one will be much safer for her. She forgot her lock here though...I'll have to remember to give it to her tomorrow, if I dont forget.

(sorry, images may be large)

Perhaps I will post these on Devart later. The lack of a sub makes my motivation to post there nearly... nonexistent. Oh well.

ah man...ran a ton of errands today. Got a lot left to do, what a busy saturday. Took the kids to the park while we were out as well, they had a great time, and I practiced fast sketching. Mostly just watching people, and trying to capture the different body language postures in sketchy human forms. We got Donovan some new shoes, which he needed badly...he chose black ones with lots of blue and silver. Aurora's going through a phase where she wants to dress herself, and it's not unusual to see her with one of Donovan's socks up to her hip....and wearing one leg of his shorts like a skirt. I keep telling Donovan to make sure his dresser drawers are shut...but he forgets.

I've been sculpting some today, and hope to continue and get lots done through the day. Today is a sculpting day. I've worked some on several pieces, including the twitter, adolescent and new feathercat. We did another pour last night, building me up a nice stock of pieces to paint once their searched over for imperfections. I took a picture of my paintshelf...oy...shelves..where I put things waiting to be checked, primed and painted. Check it out...

Also added some in progress pics to my website. I removed the drakmouse and replaced it with a mermaid I've just gotten a softpour of. I havent started carving her at all yet, but she'll be really nice later on. Here's a pic of her, to see more visit the sneak peek page at www.purplecatcreatives.com

If fallout 3 is going to be like this they can kiss that ass goodbye darned, these games are an endless process of 'circlejerking' around just costing me a dipshitload of cash.

It amazes me the diversity of bizarre creatures found in the oceans. I've never actually seen the ocean, but I've always loved looking up info about it and learning. Of all the marine creatures I've learned about...cephalopods are my favorites. These include cuttlefish, octopi and nautilous. Cuttlefish are my absolute favorites though. They can change color in a split instant...or flash like a vegas light display. They're really intelligent too. For some awesome cuttlefish footage, and awesome info...go here and watch some of this Nova program. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/camo/ Really, it's awesome!

In the meantime, what's your favorite saltwater creature? I'm really interested to see everyone's responses. :D

Here's a couple cephalopod pics too, gathered from the net. :)

The alarm didnt go off this morning...so I roll over, and I'm mostly asleep, but notice that there's faint light coming through the living room windows. Wha? So I sit up and squint blearily at the alarm clock and read 6:43 am....the bus picks up donovan at 6:45.... O_O I shot out of bed, slung Donovan's door open and go, "You're LATE! Get up getupgetup! You're gonna miss the bus, mighta missed italready! Come on comeoncomeon!" and while Donovan's yanking clothes on and going, "I can't miss the FIRST DAY! I've wanted to go back FOREVERS!" in a near panic sob...I'm yanking pants on...and periodically glancing out the door...picturing the bus going by without stopping if my son isnt out on the streetcorner. Thank goodness the bus was five minutes late...or we'd have never made it. Chris had set the alarm...turns out the alarm was accidentally set wrong, and set for going of on Saturday and sunday...oy, heart attack anyone?

Tomorrow is Donovan's first day of school. He's really excited, and looking forward to the new year. After meeting his teacher at the orientation, I liked her pretty well. We'll still be doing some homeschooling...just to keep him from forgetting some things he's ahead on. We also offered to bring in the bearded dragons for his class if it would be helpful. She seemed excited by the idea...so that may be a thing we do later in the year.

We did a pour last night, and after some minor casting cleanup, I'll have dragonmice and fairies to add to the store. We also poured some other sculpts, but none of those are new. I dunno what colors I'll try out first, I'll have to wait and see.

I did some painting last night on one of the breyer sculpts I'd had on my worktable, and am pretty pleased with the primary coat. He'll be up for sale when I finish him. It's been a while since I've really done work with model horses, so I'm slower at them for now. I'll probably get faster when I get my rythm back...paint responds so differently to the plastic models than it does to the highly absorbent plaster. Plaster is SOOO much easier to work with.

Today I'm hoping to get the house cleaned up, Donovan ready for school tomorrow, and organize my workshop and library area. I'm wanting to get some sculpting and casting cleanup shoved in there too....plus chris and I may be doing another pour tonight...he promised me three pours this week. I wasnt too happy with the photos for my more recent pieces...I changed the lighting in my workshop, and may retake some pics to update my website too. We'll see how far I get with my monster to-do list today.

DS game anyone? :o
Anyone wanna buy a copy of FFTA2 for DS? I bought a copy the other day but then got an email from the game trading thing I use saying that my request for one is being sent to me lol.

It's brand new, never been played, my copy that is. All I did was take the plastic off the package and look through the instruction book. I paid $39.99.

If yer interested, lemme know. I dun really wanna let it go for much less than I paid considering I didn't even put the game in my system even lol

Also willing to trade for another game if you have somethin' cool :D I've been wantign the FF4 game for DS as well

Well, I gave attention to moths, now here's some beautiful butterflies I'd like to share. These photos were gathered from the net, and none belong to me. :) It's amazing the patterns found on their delicate wings, and the diversity of them. Like living jewels.

Edit..one last pic...I found this neat pic of a glasswing butterfly. Neat!

If you wanna play some online pictionary, it's quite fun. There's a room called Neon Dragon Art if anyone decides to join us :-)

Edit: After a couple of hours it was time for a break. I had a bunch of fun. The site is very enjoyable even if you don't draw in the Neon Dragon Art room. Take care, guys!

Moths are the coolest bugs
Moths are so cool. Butterflies and moths are similar in many ways, and over the last few days I've been doing some cool research, and found some interesting moth species. I like the fuzzy look many moths have. I've also been amazed at the sheer size of some moths...I've encountered several luna moths near our home, and they are much larger than any butterfly I've ever seen. So...an odd question for all of you.

What's your favorite bug?

My vote is for the moth.

In the meanwhile, here are some amazing moth pics gathered from the net.
